How to transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to United MileagePlus
Editor's Note
Quick summary
Chase Ultimate Rewards is one of my favorite transferable rewards currencies due to the sheer number of high-value airline and hotel loyalty programs its points let me access. I often transfer Chase points to World of Hyatt, but you can also transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to many other partners, including United MileagePlus.
Here's how to transfer Chase points to United MileagePlus and other things you should know before transferring your Ultimate Rewards points.

How to transfer Chase points to United MileagePlus
To transfer Chase points to United MileagePlus, head to the Ultimate Rewards website, log into your account and select your Ultimate Rewards earning card (if you have multiple). You should land on a dashboard page for the card account you selected. Click on the "Travel" drop-down option at the top of your dashboard, then select "Transfer points to partners."
You'll go to a page showing all the Chase transfer partners. Scroll down, then click on the United Airlines row. Doing so will take you to an information page about transferring Chase points to United MileagePlus.
To continue, click "Transfer points" to reach a page where you can enter or confirm your United MileagePlus information. I've already enrolled United MileagePlus accounts for my husband (an authorized user on my account) and myself in my Ultimate Rewards account, so I could transfer Chase points to either of our United accounts.
Enter the amount of Chase points you'd like to transfer to United on the next page. You must transfer at least 1,000 points and can only transfer in increments of 1,000 points.
Click "Next" to reach a summary page before clicking "Submit" to confirm your transfer request.

Transfers are irreversible, so always make sure you find award availability or are certain that you want to transfer your points before clicking "submit."
How long do Chase points take to transfer to United MileagePlus?
When you transfer Chase points to United, the miles will usually appear in your MileagePlus account instantaneously.
However, it may occasionally take longer for Chase points to transfer to United. You'll almost always see the miles in your account by the next business day, but it could take up to seven business days.
You'll get an email from Chase that says your points transfer is in progress once you confirm your transfer request, and you'll get another email from Chase once your points transfer is complete. So, if the miles don't appear in your United account instantaneously, keep an eye on your email to know when the transfer is complete.
Chase to United transfer ratio
The Chase to United transfer ratio is 1:1. You must transfer Chase points in increments of 1,000 points, which means you can convert 1,000 Chase points into 1,000 United miles. You might occasionally find a transfer bonus that boosts the Chase to United transfer ratio, but these are rare.
Based on TPG's July 2025 valuations, Chase points are worth 2.05 cents each while United miles are worth 1.3 cents each. You'll lose theoretical value when you transfer Chase points since transferable points are inherently more valuable. But, as we'll discuss in the next section, this doesn't mean you shouldn't transfer Chase points to United.
Should I transfer Chase points to United MileagePlus?
As you read this guide, you might wonder whether you should transfer Chase points to United. This question is complex, so I can't tell you without understanding your situation.
However, based on our valuations, United MileagePlus isn't the most valuable Chase transfer partner. For example, while our July 2025 valuations peg the value of United miles at 1.3 cents each, we value some other Chase transfer partners, including World of Hyatt, British Airways Club and Air Canada Aeroplan, higher at 1.7 cents each for Hyatt and 1.4 cents each for British Airways and Air Canada.
You may want to reserve your Chase Ultimate Rewards points for transfers to these higher-value partners, especially if you haven't accrued a massive stash of Chase points. Still, it is possible to get more value from United miles on some redemptions. Check out our guide on redeeming United miles to get started, then read our guide about maximizing United MileagePlus redemptions for more tips on getting the most value from your United miles.
If you would otherwise redeem your points for travel through the Chase Travel℠ portal, transferring points to United could provide more value. Consider how much value you'd get when redeeming United points and compare this with your redemption rate through Chase Travel.
