Quick summary

Despite recent headlines about flight cancellations in the Middle East, Turkey remains open and welcoming to visitors. It's currently under a Level 2 State Department travel advisory, on par with countries like the United Kingdom, the Dominican Republic, France and South Africa.

Whether Turkey, including its mesmerizing city of Istanbul, is on your bucket list or you're simply a sucker for a great mileage redemption, now is a great time to book your flight. Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles has plenty of award availability between Istanbul and many major U.S. airports for only 65,000 miles each way — and that's for lie-flat business-class seats on long-haul, nonstop flights.

Here are all the details.

How to find and book TPG's deal of the day

We used the time-saving Seats.aero tool to quickly find business-class award availability between the U.S. and Turkey. This tool makes it easy to see which dates are available to or from your desired airport.

We've seen good availability throughout the first few months of 2026, but you'll need a Seats.aero Pro account to search this far out. However, there are also some options within the next 60 days that are visible if you have a basic account.

SEATS.AERO

Redeeming 65,000 miles for a one-way transatlantic business-class flight is a bargain, especially if you're coming from the West Coast. Here's an example flight in February from LAX to IST. A 13-hour direct flight in a lie-flat seat? Yes, please.

TURKISH AIRLINES

With cash prices for these routes starting around $2,500 round-trip, you'll get an excellent return of 1.9 cents apiece for your Turkish miles, much higher than TPG's June 2025 valuation of 1.2 cents apiece.

We recommend starting your search with Seats.aero. Once you've narrowed down your dates and destinations, head to Turkish Airlines' website to book online.

If you don't have enough miles, you can transfer points or miles from three major credit card programs — Bilt Rewards, Capital One miles and Citi ThankYou Rewards — to Miles&Smiles at a 1:1 ratio. Just remember that these transfers are irreversible, so always confirm that award space is available before transferring your hard-earned points or miles.

How to earn the points or miles required for TPG's deal of the day

Here are some great card welcome offers that earn transferable points or miles that you can turn into Turkish Miles&Smiles:

Bottom line

Turkish Miles&Smiles regularly offers economy awards between the U.S. and Turkey for 40,000 miles each way. That's not a bad deal, but being able to enjoy your flight in the comfort of business class for only 25,000 miles more is a great way to redeem your points and miles.

We've seen plenty of options over the rest of 2025 and the beginning of 2026, but these seats won't last forever, so now's the time to consider how Istanbul might fit into your travel plans.
