Deal alert: Fly to Spain for only 14,000 Chase points
Editor's Note
Spain remains one of the most popular European destinations for U.S. travelers and for good reason. From sunny beaches and dramatic coastlines to scenic landscapes and historic architecture, Spain offers the European experience you've always dreamt of — with a reasonable flight time and favorable weather well past peak season.
And here's some good news: There is great availability for cheap award flights from U.S. East Coast hubs to Madrid on Iberia from mid-September through the end of 2026. And with Chase Ultimate Rewards currently offering a 20% transfer bonus to Iberia, you can snag amazing deals on these flights starting at just 14,000 points for economy or 34,000 points for business class.
(Note that prices and availability were accurate at the time of writing.)

TPG's deal of the day basics
- Airline: Iberia.
- Routes: Flights from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK); Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR); Boston Logan International Airport (BOS); and Dulles International Airport (IAD) Madrid's Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD) in Madrid.
- Best way to book: Directly with Iberia using Avios or by transferring Chase points for a 20% bonus.
- Price: 16,000 Avios for economy, 29,500 Avios for premium economy or 40,500 Avios for business class (all one-way, plus taxes and fees). With the current 20% transfer bonus, you could book by transferring just 14,000, 25,000 or 34,000 Chase points, respectively. Note: Prices are for off-peak dates out of the above hubs, but you can also find slightly higher rates out of Miami International Airport (MIA), Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD), Orlando International Airport (MCO), Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW)
- Retail price: From $324 for economy, $1,009 for premium economy or $2,734 for business class (all one-way).
- Travel dates: Various dates from mid-September through December.
How to find and book TPG's deal of the day
You'll need to search and book directly through Iberia.
To search award pricing, log into your Iberia Club account and select "Pay with Avios" before you search. If your dates are flexible, you can select the "Monthly view of flights" option to get a full five-week calendar view of prices. You can also filter the results by fare class.

There is currently widespread availability for economy seating and solid availability for premium economy. Business-class awards are few and far between, but if you find one that works for you, it'll be a terrific deal.

Once you've found the flight you want, select it and continue through the booking process.

How to earn the points or miles required for TPG's deal of the day
The great news about this deal is that you can easily come up with enough Avios, thanks to numerous transfer opportunities.
Right now, you'll get the best value by transferring Chase Ultimate Rewards points (which have a 20% transfer bonus) to Iberia and other airline programs that use Avios — but that's not your only option. American Express Membership Rewards, Bilt Rewards and Wells Fargo Rewards all transfer directly to Iberia at a 1:1 ratio.
Plus, Avios transfer (mostly) freely between other airline programs that use Avios. This means you can even turn Citi ThankYou Rewards and Capital One miles into Iberia Avios by first transferring them through those programs' Avios partners. (Citi transfers 1:1 to British Airways; Capital One transfers 1:1 to Qatar Airways.)
All of that means there are lots of cards with welcome offers that can get you a big pile of Avios. Here are some solid options right now:
- Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card (see rates and fees): Earn 75,000 bonus points after you spend $5,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening.
- Chase Sapphire Reserve® (see rates and fees): Earn 125,000 points after you spend $6,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening.
- Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card (see rates and fees): Earn 100,000 bonus points after you spend $8,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening.
- American Express® Gold Card: Find out your offer and see if you are eligible for as high as 100,000 Membership Rewards® Points after spending $6,000 on purchases in the first six months of card membership. Welcome offers vary and you may not be eligible for an offer.
- Wells Fargo Autograph Journey℠ Card (see rates and fees): Earn 60,000 bonus points when you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening.
Just be sure to confirm award availability with the airline before transferring your points or miles, as transfers are irreversible.

Bottom line
If Spain has been on your travel radar and you have pretty much any kind of transferable points (or the ability to earn a bonus on a new card this spring), these deals put a dream trip within reach. Just remember that while availability is great for economy fares, you'll definitely want to move quickly to lock in any premium-economy or business-class fares — those will not last long.
