Giselle Gomez

Senior credit cards editor
TPG since 2025
Giselle M. Gomez is a senior editor at The Points Guy, where she leads the credit cards vertical and helps readers make smarter, more strategic decisions about the cards in their wallets. This includes from when to apply for a new card to maximize a welcome bonus to how to fully leverage ongoing perks and benefits. She brings more than a decade of editorial experience across personal finance, travel and sports journalism.

Before joining TPG, Giselle was an editor at NerdWallet covering travel rewards and credit cards. Her work has appeared in The Associated Press, NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox Sports, The Arizona Republic and the Phoenix Business Journal. She was also selected to report from the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Giselle began following TPG in 2014 after booking her first trip to Europe entirely on points and miles — and she hasn’t looked back. Since then, she has redeemed rewards to travel to more than 20 countries and over 30 U.S. states, including funding her month-long honeymoon down under almost entirely with points.

With more than 20 active credit cards in her own wallet, she is passionate about maximizing transfer partners, stretching points for long-term value and helping readers turn everyday spending into meaningful, repeatable travel experiences.

She is based in Florida.
The timing of your credit card applications is just as important as the card itself. Align new cards with big planned spending, pay attention to minimum spending requirements, and always make sure the perks actually fit your lifestyle. Smart timing = more free travel and less stress.
